The Baby Bits Company offers uniquely handmade garments assembled with re-purposed materials of 100% natural fibers. To focus on keeping it green, all materials are purchased from local resale shops that benefit charitable programs.
The Baby Bits Company infant and toddler apparel is the perfect venture for long-time friends and Ann Arbor natives, Mary Catherine Buchanan and Emma Greene-Kaleski who share their passions for fashion design and social and environmental responsibility.
All materials are hand picked high quality goods, using every last inch possible, to produce limited edition creations. With a knack for working within extraordinary color palettes from eye catching bold to earthy and subdued, each piece is one of a kind and embellished with batik, embroidery, cotton prints and/or appliqué.
In the midst of the felted wool craze, The Baby Bits Company also adds fibers such as cashmere, cotton and angora to vary in texture and feel for little ones. Covering all ages from newborn to 4T these small pieces are intended to be handcrafted keepsakes to pass on to other like minded parents and friends for their favorite baby bit!
After testing the waters with winter wear in 2007, they step it up for Spring/Summer 2008 with functional and often unisex re-purposed denim moccasins, bloomers embellished with hand dyed silk ribbon ties and light wrist and leg warmer accessories.
Their success at Ypsilanti Winter Shadow Art Fair was evidence that others share their love for the baby and toddler wool and cashmere booties, hats, mittens and warmers. Shortly after, the much loved Tree City Diapers on the West side of Ann Arbor, Michigan picked up their 2007 winter collection.
The Spring/Summer line is currently available online and the Fall/Winter 2008 line will be available in late June.
The launch of their Spring line took place on April 12th and was a great success! Local artwork accompanied the fashion show displaying their latest designs.
